CED - WHAT IS IT?

Community economic development (CED) is generally the term that’s used to describe action by people within a specific geographic community or group of communities to create local economic opportunities and improve quality of life and social conditions. Because local challenges and opportunities are as varied as the individual communities themselves the CED process uses knowledge and resources resident in the community. That same process helps to identify and capitalize on local opportunities.

CED results in engaged, active, resilient communities: places where people want to live and businesses wish to locate; vibrant communities with a strong local economy; a healthy quality of life and a high level of social capital (interactions).
